About

Audiobook engineer, headphones, sound engineer, female, microphones, pro tools, soundwaves

Audiobook Engineer, Literature Enthusiast, & Your Personal Wingwoman.

Hi, I’m Julie! I work with narrators, voice actors, authors, and production companies to edit and produce beautiful audiobooks.

To misquote a certain protagonist in a popular film, I have a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career, skills that make me a wonderful resource for people like you.

A woman with long curly dark hair wearing glasses, a green sleeveless top, and black wide-leg pants, sitting on a black chair near a window with sunlight coming in, smiling and looking to her right.

When you work with me as your audiobook editor and producer, you’re not just getting an audio engineer. You’re getting someone who understands sound, storytelling, and the learning curve that comes with creating an audiobook for the first time.

My background is a little different from what you’ll find in most studios. I have a degree in sound engineering and started my career in a commercial recording studio in Detroit before moving into education. I also have a degree in English, which means I’m listening for more than clicks, breaths, and background noise — I’m also paying attention to manuscript inconsistencies, repeated words, grammar issues, and anything else that might pull a listener out of the story.

And because I really — like, really — loved college, I also have a master’s degree in sociology. So, between sound, language, and the study of people, I bring a well-rounded approach to audiobook production — one that helps me support the technical, creative, and human sides of every project

I especially love helping debut authors and emerging narrators bring their first audiobooks to life. You should never feel uncomfortable asking your engineer questions, and I pride myself on creating a space where clients feel comfortable, prepared, and supported.

In short, I’m here to help you tell your whole story — clearly, professionally, and with care.

Now that you know a little about me, I’d love to hear about your project. Send me a note, and let’s get started.

Why Whole Story Studio?

  • My background in English literature means we approach every project with an appreciation for narrative nuance and emotional pacing. This isn’t just about editing sound, it’s about creating an emotional connection between your story and your listeners.

  • Whole Story Studio is not just another sound factory. In fact, it’s just the opposite. When booking a project, you’ll work directly with me or one of my incredible sound engineers. There are no middlemen at WSS, you’ll communicate directly with us during your project.

  • This is an audiobook-only zone (okay, and yes, we have a lovely set-up for podcasts as well). I’ve built us a comfy and cozy space right in downtown West Palm Beach, Florida, to record and produce retail-ready audiobooks. Audiobooks are my specialty. If you’re looking for a place to record music or need a more advanced podcasting space, I more am happy to recommend other local studios.

  • When you work with Whole Story Studio, you also have access to nearly everything else you’ll need to record and market your audiobook. As a part of the 1909 small business collective, Whole Story Studio has direct access and wonderful relationships with marketers, social media experts, photographers, designers, and foreign-language consultants to support every aspect of your audiobook project.

  • If you need a vacation but also need to record pickups, look no further. Check out the WSS Studio page to learn more about the studio and your next vacation to West Palm Beach.
